Building confident riders with strong foundations.
Riding Lessons at Blueview Equestrian
Blueview Equestrian offers private riding lessons on a school horse designed to help riders develop confidence, correct fundamentals, and a positive connection with horses.
Lessons are conducted on a quiet, experienced 14.2 Australian Stock Horse who is patient and well suited to beginner riders. Each lesson focuses not only on riding skills, but also on learning how to safely handle and care for horses.
Perfect for adults who have always wanted to try horse riding but have never had the chance.
Teaching Horsemanship from the ground up.
At Blueview, riders are involved in the full process of preparing the horse. This helps build confidence and a better understanding of horses.
Lessons include:
Catching and handling the horse
Grooming and basic horse care
Learning how to tack up correctly
Mounting safely
Developing correct riding position and balance
Steering, control and transitions
Understanding horse behaviour and communication
By learning both ground skills and riding skills, riders develop a more complete foundation with horses.
For more experienced riders, on-property trail riding is available in the second half of the lesson. Rider experience is assessed during the first lesson to ensure rider safety.
A Calm Learning Environment
Blueview provides a quiet, low-pressure environment where riders can learn at a comfortable pace without the overwhelm of busy riding schools.
Our focus is on creating safe, positive experiences that help riders feel relaxed, capable, and connected with horses.
Lessons at Blueview are taught by Ruth McMahon, an experience horsewoman with a lifelong background in riding and horse care. As a professional in equine bodywork, she provides a strong understanding of horse movement, comfort and biomechanics that influence all aspects of her teaching.
Ruth developed her riding foundation in the UK, training within environments influenced by the standards of the British Horse Society. This background emphasises correct fundamentals, horse welfare, and safe riding practices.
Her teaching approach focuses on building rider confidence, developing correct position and feel for the horse, and transferring skills that begin on the ground to the saddle.
